Tire
pressure monitoring (TPM) systems have three
main components:
- Sensors installed at the valve stem
of the wheel that directly measure pressure
in the tire
- A centrally located receiver and electronic
control unit (ECU) that receives and processes
data sent from the sensors
- A low tire pressure telltale found
on the dashboard that illuminates when
one or more tires are under inflated.
Because TPM sensors are housed inside of
the tire, special care is needed
when tires are removed and new ones installed.
TPM suppliers have different methods or
recommendations for how to protect the sensor
during a tire change. This section is designed
to help service
dealerships and vehicle
manufacturers to service EnTire Solution
TPM sensors. |
